I have improved my grammar, vocabulary and composition skills through the study of selected texts, poetry and prescribed reading and exercises to practice and test my knowledge. I have used the following: Bescherelle La conjugaison, Bled Lycée (Edition Hachette), Redaction (Edition Hatier), SchoolMouv.fr (Français Seconde), and Several French Literature and Poetry books.

Through this course I was able to increase my knowledge and appreciation of the French language, especially in the written form. I have a better command of French grammar and can now discuss important poets and writers that have helped influence French literature, theatre and journalism. I have recited poems to my family and friends. I am more confident when I write to them, be it texts messages or emails.
I have delved into the French curriculum, focusing on grammar, vocabulary, literature and essay-writing through numerous books and online resources. Although I have learnt a great deal about strict grammar rules that define the French language, I have also learnt to speak and write more fluidly; the books I have read have increased my vocabulary and made me more confident in my creative writing endeavor. I am now able to draft an essay, be it argumentative or narrative, much more efficiently.
I had my most interesting essays read by my friends and parents as well as corrected by my mentor. As for the poetry readings, I also shared them with close friends through video clips, and they had given me advice on tone and expression.
I have focused my research on understanding the deeper aspects of French culture and its historical context. I considered how French literary traditions evolved and how to incorporate critical thinking into my studies. I also researched the best strategies for continuing to expand my language skills from a native level, balancing both grammatical accuracy and fluency in writing and speech. In addition, I looked into immersive methods to enhance my learning, such as engaging with French cinema, news broadcasts, and podcasts, and participating in conversations with fluent speakers to ensure my language use is dynamic and practical.
As part of my fieldwork, I have focused on improving my analytical and interpretive skills, which helped me deepen my understanding of each literary work. I am working to master literary vocabulary and techniques such as “l’argumentation directe et indirecte”, “la construction du personnage romanesque”, and the analysis of poetic forms and meaning. I’ve studied authors such as Voltaire, Hugo, Camus, Baudelaire, and Apollinaire, using both textbooks and resources like SchoolMouv videos and summaries. These tools have helped clarify complex texts and made the historical and philosophical contexts more accessible.
