I have attended weekly theater classes during this school year at the nearby youth center (Paris Anim’, Ruth Bader branch). My theater classes were a lot of fun and an amazing opportunity to meet other teenagers who live nearby. We practiced a lot of social exercises with a focus on rhythm, turn-taking, emotions and voice modulation through tongue-twister games. Of course, we also acted out plays where I play a range of interesting characters.
As for the Kahoot games, I focused on the communication part, which includes the creation of the game in a way where my friends and family can easily understand the questions and the choice of answers. I also coached them while they completed the Kahoot in case of difficulties encountered.
For the roleplaying game, I joined role-playing holiday camps, creating online groups and even meeting in real life with other people. The planning of games, as well as communication during the game required that I overcome my shyness and communicate verbally in a clear way to people from different backgrounds.
The Roleplaying Game (RPG) camp (Paris Anim’, Richrd Wright branch) involved an adult Game Master, with four teenagers and me, and lasted a week during school holidays. We played two games: the first one was a mythological RPG which involved elves, goblins and other humanoid creatures. The second RPG was set in a dystopian futuristic environment where AI had taken over the world and my group were among the rare humans left on Earth. I got along so well with this group that at the end of the camp, we kept in touch and have been playing RPG games for a while after that, with campaigns lasting a month.
Later I decided to join games organized weekly by the local “Playin” shop near my house. I have been able to interact with people from different ages and backgrounds and feel more confident in my verbal communication skills. The character sheets I created also helped me improve my written communication.
